about

a return to form of sorts. for those of you familiar
with the 'various recordings 2002-2005' cassette
(incidental bets) is the recording project most like
'song pieces' that i have recorded since 2005!
particularly in its blues.

the songwriting is a amalgam of spontaneous
composition pieces crafted from lyrical ideas
and song fragments i have carried around for
the better part of a decade.

sadly there are no collaborations on this one.
at the moment the salt wells consists
of me. and you if you'll listen

the "even this spider..." passage
'in fool's errand' is a quote out of
la gaya scienza by friedrich nietzsche.

there is a mysterious handwritten message
included at the end of 'niels lyhne'
i attribute to brandon euseppi.

jean-paul sartre was a french existentialist.
he died on my second birthday.

joe macho jr. is a classically trained violinist
and bassist who played on dylan's
'hightway 61 revisited' and in jim croce's band.

niels lyhne is the name of a character in a
novel by the same name by j.p. jacobsen.

rainer-maria rilke suggested to always have
this book on hand in 'letter to a young poet'.

the title of 'tennesse menagerie' references
'the glass menagerie' by tennessee williams.

'new a-side' blues & both 'broken light blues'
reference two songs written by myself
and Alex Moomey in 2004.

i am very proud of the work we did together.
