these songs close a chapter of my life. the oldest songs in this
collection were begun in 2008 - 2009. that would be 'last of the

famous cardigan sweaters' and 'halo watts'. the rest of the songs
were written over a period of six months after i lost a job and was

substitute teaching in 2013. 'madeleine stowe' and 'sweet sixteen'
came first. then 'starship' and 'song to pauline'.

'seth gentry' and 'february fourth two-thouand eighteen' took a little
longer to figure out. and #protestmusic & #d, although theorized,

didn't come about until 2015. 'emma url' was intended for this group
of songs, but it somehow didn't work in the end.

'halowatts' was inspired by a statement spencer said at jessie's house
about her having 'violent violet eyes'.

the extras are special songs to me. even though, i know i didn't do
them justice. i never seem to quite get it right.

7th St apt. in macarthur park in 2013.

'seth gentry' & one of the guitar tracks on 'halo watts'
were recorded on vine st in nlr.

2015.

the salt wells began as a homerecording project in 2002. this came to include freak out improvisations, spontaneous compositions, & collaborative songwriting with stacy hartoon, greg wallace, junko hayashi, & alex moomey. by 2004 more than two cassettes had been produced and the salt wells included contributions from mikey hayes & david simpington, again with jessie floyd & sophia ramone in 2010. ... more
