first time in your life you're living by yourself the quiet is nice but the silence hurts like hell how do you make good with the ones that you never could especially now? in the evening the dog chews on a chair as you listen for footfalls of someone who isn't there how do you make friends after the honeymoon ends and they've all picked sides and signified me, baby? put the number in the phonebook under someone else's name changed the message on the voicemail but the number's still the same look me up and call sometime look me up and call sometime

about

originally conceived as a band of sorts
with jessie. we went over some songs,
talked about new material, worked on a
song of jessie's, and rearranged three or
four of my own, and talked about a fifth.
jessie suggested we cover otis redding,
so we did try a little tenderness.the name
of the band was suggested by stacy nicole
mackey. jessie brought sophia in to play
bass even though she was pregnant, and i
brought in tim on drums. jessie described
us as an emo band with a punk rocker on
bass and a heavy metal guitarist on drums.
a handful of shows fell through, and sophia
moved back to ny. tim moved to r'ville, and
jessie moved to north carolina. she selected
single file by elliott smith for us to do also, so
i selected good to go. i wish we'd recorded.
it would've been great! our band was you're
best friend. we would have made a good band.
